Desi Pak 5.5 gram (1/6 unit) bentonite clay desiccant is natural montmorillonite clay (bentonite) based, environmentally friendly and an economical moisture adsorbent.

It is highly preferred in industrial packaging, shipping and storage. It offers a remarkable adsorption capacity. It even performs better than silica gel in low humidity levels (less than 30% relative humidity, which is the case for most packaging environment). Its adsorption increases as relative humidity increases.


A humidity indicator card (Rh 8%) is placed inside each 100 micron PE bag. As long as the indicator does not turn from blue to pink, it shows that the performance status of the desiccant is good.

What is it used for ?

Desi Pak 5.5 gram (1/6 unit) bentonite clay desiccant is an economical desiccant with good adsorption capacity. It successfully protects products and goods from excessive moisture and avoids rust, mold, mildew, fungus, decolorization and other negative impacts.

Where to use it ?

It is widely used in industrial and electronic products packaging, shipping and storage. Main industries of use are electronics & optics, electrical equipment, semiconductor, machinery, military, aviation & defense, furniture, automotive, metal, textile and many others.

How to use it ?

The amount of desiccant to be used may vary as per parameters of the application which affect performance of desiccant.

The optimum quantity should be decided after consideration of product type, packaging barrier film specifications including MVTR (moisture vapor transmission rate), storage and shipping time and other conditions of the relative application.

Under normal conditions, 1 sachet of 'Desi Pak 5,5 gram (1/6 unit)' is recommended for approximately 4 lt (0,004 cubic meter) container space. For detailed calculation, please refer to : DESI PAK® Desiccant Calculator

It is important to keep container air-tight for an effective usage. If high humidity, long-term or sensitive protection is concerned, increasing the amount of use is highly recommended. After removing the desiccant sachet from the polyethylene bag, place it immediately in the volume you want to apply. Store unused desiccant packages in an airtight manner for future use.

Clay bentonite based desiccants can perform satisfactorily under 49 C temperature. It would be convenient to use silica gel or molecular sieve for temperatures over 49 C.

* Bentonite clay is a naturally-occurring mineral. It is highly adsorbent, chemically inert and non-corrosive . Thanks to its layered structure, it easily holds water vapor which makes it a very effective desiccant.

* Desi Pak desiccants are certified under German DIN55473-B by DINCERT CO. They also comply with U.S. MIL-D-3464E standards and JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council).

* Even at full water vapor capacity it still remains dry, does not flow and retains its shape and size.


* According to DIN55473 standards, 1 unit desiccant weight is 33g for bentonite clay. (Same is 25g for silica gel) 1 unit desiccant sachet shall adsorb 3g of water vapor at 20% relative humidity (RH) and 6g of water vapor at 40% RH at a temperature of 25 C. Desi Pak fulfills this standard.
